melton I found this a long time ago on CD not knowing what it was, just taking a chance, and was one of the most nice and unique listening experiences ever. A classic in my book, even though I still have no idea what he's saying. he's also the only Estonia music project I've
known much about. I'm not an expert but the remaster is gorgeous as ever, and the bonus tracks are magnificent. this is a classic to me. thanks Favorite track: Tumedasse tuppa (bonus track).

about

"Kõrvaklapid" is a debyt album by Estonia’s electronic music artist Pastacas aka Ramo Teder, released 2001 by Kohvirecords. It was quickly sold out and managed to get distribution only in Estonia and Ireland. Album is re-mastered 2011, when repress published in Japan (Afterhours) and in Estonia (kohviradio.com), also added two bonus tracks "Kodukino" and "Tumedasse tuppa". This album differs remarkably from Teder’s sound today. If he is presently playing a kind of psychedelic urban folk, using the looper to multiply sounds performed on flute and mandolin (among other instruments), his sound from a decade back was essentially more towards analogue-electronica, floating somewhere on borderlines between jazz, bossa nova and ambient, and being also influenced by hay days of drum’n bass and the then main acts of legendary Warp-label. However, his debut album may be characterized using the style invention created by the author himself – "nerd-punk à la blackberry on a hard drive", a genre well-known to all Pastacas’ fans of today.

Pastacas’ compositions have been called “remarkably charming and creative” by Wire magazine. In his music, there’s always a clear vein of playful fantasy at work: “It can be disorienting listening to Pastacas. He writes his own lyrics, but it’s almost impossible to say what language he’s working in. He borrows words from both Estonian and Finnish, while throwing his own made-up vocabulary into the mix… The lyrics are [then] layered, cut up, looped, or slowed down to a narcoleptic pace. Sentiment and emotion are more important than any literal meaning. The resulting tracks aren’t so much songs as flights of whimsy.”
